1. Introduction and scope
These Terms and Conditions govern access to and use of the Legal English Plus website, customer accounts, digital publications, previews, learning resources, institutional services, support services and any related features supplied through the platform. By creating an account, purchasing a publication, accepting a gifted licence, using an institutional seat or otherwise using the website, you agree to be bound by these Terms together with any policy expressly incorporated into them.
Legal English Plus is a specialist digital publishing and learning platform. Its publications are designed to help readers improve the language used in legal study and professional practice. The platform does not provide legal representation, legal opinions on a user’s particular circumstances or a substitute for advice from a qualified lawyer in the relevant jurisdiction.
2. Eligibility and customer accounts
You must provide accurate, current and complete information when registering or purchasing. You are responsible for safeguarding your password, maintaining control of your email account and promptly informing us of suspected unauthorised access. Accounts are personal unless an institutional licence expressly permits administration of multiple seats. You may not impersonate another person, create misleading accounts, share login credentials or use automated methods to access protected materials.
3. Digital products and descriptions
We make reasonable efforts to describe each book accurately, including its title, edition, level, page count, learning outcomes, preview material, language and price. Minor differences in layout, file size, pagination or cover presentation may arise when a publication is revised or optimised. Preview pages are provided to help you assess suitability and do not represent every part of a publication.
4. Orders, pricing and payment
Prices are displayed in the currency shown at checkout. Taxes, where applicable, are identified before the order is completed. An order is not complete until the payment provider confirms an authorised sale or capture and Legal English Plus records the order as paid. We may refuse or cancel an order where payment verification fails, the transaction appears fraudulent, a pricing error is obvious, a sanctions or compliance concern arises, or fulfilment would breach law or payment-provider rules.
5. Personalised PDF licence
Each purchased PDF is licensed to the named customer for personal professional or educational use. Ownership of copyright and other intellectual-property rights does not transfer. The customer may store and read the file on reasonable personal devices and may print a reasonable number of copies for their own use, unless a book page states otherwise. The customer must not sell, rent, lend, publish, upload, broadcast, redistribute, remove or obscure a watermark, defeat access controls, make the file available through a shared drive, or use it to create a competing publication.
Each copy may contain visible and invisible identifiers including the customer’s name, email address, order number, purchase date, unique file fingerprint and other traceability information. These measures protect authors, purchasers and the integrity of the publication. They do not grant permission to publicly identify or shame a customer; any investigation will be handled proportionately and in accordance with applicable privacy law.
6. Downloads, devices and replacement files
Download limits are shown in the customer library. Limits are intended to allow reasonable access while reducing unauthorised circulation. We may restore a download after a genuine technical problem, regenerate a corrupted copy, revoke a compromised link or temporarily suspend downloads while unusual activity is reviewed. A replacement file may contain an updated watermark or edition identifier.
7. Updates, editions and errata
We may correct typographical errors, clarify explanations, update references and release new editions. The entitlement attached to a purchase is stated on the relevant book page. Some corrections may be supplied without charge; a substantially expanded edition may be treated as a separate product. Important errata and update notices may appear in the customer library or be sent by email.
8. Reviews, community content and support
Reviews and support messages must be lawful, relevant and respectful. You must not submit defamatory, discriminatory, threatening, deceptive or confidential material belonging to another person. We may moderate, reject or remove content that breaches these standards. Support response times are targets, not guarantees, and may vary with complexity, public holidays or third-party payment investigations.
9. Institutional and bulk licensing
Universities, firms, training providers and other organisations may purchase seat-based access under a separate quotation, order form or licence schedule. Institutional administrators may assign seats only to authorised learners or staff. Unused seats, reassignment rules, expiry dates, reporting and permitted classroom use are governed by the applicable institutional agreement.
10. Availability and acceptable use
We aim to keep the service available, secure and accurate, but temporary interruption may occur for maintenance, security, infrastructure failure or events outside reasonable control. You must not probe, scan, overload, reverse engineer, scrape, circumvent access controls, introduce malicious code, interfere with another user, or use the platform in a way that could damage its reputation or operation.
11. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access where there is credible evidence of fraud, unlawful activity, serious licence breach, abusive conduct, security risk, repeated chargebacks or material breach of these Terms. Where appropriate, we will provide notice and an opportunity to explain. Termination does not affect accrued rights, payment obligations, confidentiality duties, intellectual-property protections or provisions intended to survive.
12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The publications are educational resources. Laws, terminology and professional conventions differ between jurisdictions and change over time. You remain responsible for checking primary legal sources, professional rules and the requirements of your matter. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Legal English Plus is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, lost profits, lost opportunity, loss arising from reliance on educational content as legal advice, or unauthorised use caused by a customer’s failure to secure their account.
13. Changes, governing law and contact
We may update these Terms to reflect new products, legal requirements or operational changes. Material changes will be identified by a new version and effective date. The governing law and competent forum will be those stated in the final commercial registration and checkout information for the operating company. Questions may be submitted through the Contact or Support pages.
